I am considering buying a used

I am considering buying a used boat powered with a 1998 175HP Johnson. Other than a compression check what else should I look for when checking out this engine. Also what would be acceptable compression readings on this motor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
look at lower unit lube also

look at lower unit lube also
ask for receipts for service
look at all the electrical connections

u want to be withing 10% PSI of each cylinder

I am considering buying a used Azura with 1995 115 HP Johnson outboard motor. I've been told Johnson motors are not good as compared to the Japanese motors - any help on this one??
