Have gotten into the leg and p

Have gotten into the leg and put air up the water line to check for obstructions in system and it needs about 25# before any comes out the tell tale. Is there a thermostat or is there a blockage? Tried taking the fitting off where the hose pushes on and of course it snapped off. Don't want to go any further if this is normal. it is a 93 Mariner 20hp

So is this why I have the backpressure or is it a blockage. I thought the water would just come out the tell tale but does it only come out once it gets to temperature?

Even if the thermostat is closed water should circulate through the block and exhaust. You probably have an obstruction somewhere. It may be at the base of the powerhead.
