I'm a new member here and am really enjoying the site.
I am looking for some advice as I am shopping for my next boat.
I am looking at both new and used center console style vessels in the 23-30' range.
I am not very familiar with outboard motors and would love some tips about making a purchase.
-The most important thing I need to know is how many hours is an outboard engine good for? I am looking at both 2 and 4 strokes.
-Do people bother with a survey for a boat of this size/simplicity.
-With little access to the true bilge of most center consoles, I am concerned about unseen damage and deterioration....what should i be looking for?
-Any common issues with a particular brand of outboard I should be concerned about?
-What are some basic things I should be looking at in a used motor before I bother with making an offer and getting a survey?
-What other free advice would you offer me?
