Black oil leaking from 1983 80hp merc

I have noticed after I use my

I have noticed after I use my 80hp merc it leaks out a small spot of dark black oil. looks like burnt oil. Any ideas what this might be coming from??? Making a mess of the garage floor.

Mercs had a recirculating system in them, bringing the unburnt gas and oil back up to the top cylinder and allowing it too run through all the cylinders to the bottom, where in the older models it was just allowed to run out the motor, they have made a new design in the new ones to keep circulating it, but in your year, it's just normal, for it to leak out. "
