" In a word, HEAT. I am not shouting just emphasizing. All that exhaust in a closed area such as an engine compartment is bad rice, for both the engine and boat. A lot of Downeaster fisherman (Maine) in past years used to yank motors out of cars or trucks and slip them into the lobbie boats, but they were fairly open engine rooms and heat was never an issue. They came up with homemade manifold coolers to keep the engine a little cooler, but now the Coast Guard keeps things pretty well under control, requiring only Marine rated gear on boats. Not to say there are not some shade tree boaties out there still doing things the old way.As far as manafactures of dry manifolds, it would be a surprise to me, as Im sure insurance and liability issues are a concern in the marine industry. Of course you could always convert a stationairy engine, but again you will have that heat issue. Kim "
