" My 200 Johnson has started smoking excessively lately. It's not fouling plugs and seems to run fine. Not using abnormal amount of oil. (It's a 99 motor with original VRO) My dealer mechanic checked VRO pump output, fuel line for air bubbles present, compression. All good. Have not changed oil brands. More a nuisance when idling at this point than anything else. Any one have any ideas?

Needs to be de-carboned espec

Needs to be de-carboned especially the exhaustports etc.

" Check for fuel line restriction,obstruction or air leak like kinked hose, defective anti-siphon valve, cracks, etc. When not enough fuel can be sucked in by vro, there will be too much oil compared to gasoline and so engine will smoke excessively. "

James is probably dead-on. I can't tell you how many times that I have seen that problem.
