"I have a classic 50 merc. 1989. The charging system seems to work but charges at 16 volts at w.o.t. and thirteen at idle with no load. Problem is if I sit and fish at night with the anchor light on for 3 hours the battery is dead! I thought it should not do that. I pull start the engine and go in and battery is charged up. If I put a load on the system at idle the gauge goes down to about 10 volts until i take the load off.(power trim for example) Any ideas? Thanks, Randy."
