" Mercruiser publishes an application manual for each of the engines they produce. Since the 454 has been out of production for over two years, most dealers are probably willing to part with their old ones. If not, they can certainly order you one. The current manual, which will not include the 454, is P/N 90-863757000. If you are looking to install a new engine, this is the book you want, it covers the new 8.1 engines, as well as the older models which are still being used. This book is very informative. "
