" I own an '85 120 HP Johnson. My oil and temp horn have stopped working. How do you troubleshhot this and where is the horn/buzzer ?

I know there is a wire that you ground to see if the horn works ( I do not know exactly which wire this is ). What is the most common ailment of this system ?

Thx,

Alan "

"Alan..... The most common pro

"Alan..... The most common problem is that of the horn itself failing. If you have a center console type control, the horn would be under the instrument panel (top of console) somewhere. If you have a regular OMC type control box, the horn is inside the box.

To test the horn, assuming you have 12 volts going to the horn from the ignition switch, have the ignition key in the "ON" position, then find the tan wire that leads out of the heat sensors that you'll see at the top portion of either cylinder head. Ground out that wire which completes the warning horn circuit. The horn should sound off. If not, the horn is faulty. To double check the horn, after you remove it, simply connect it to your battery.
