Hi; whats the best way to replace the water tube on a '70 9.5.

"MercMan..... Sorry to say, there is no best way to replace that tube.

With long nose pliers, a flashlite that will project a solid concentrated beam, and a lot of patience, one can get that tube back in where it belongs, but it also requires a bit of luck. I've managed to do that a few times but it is a first class pain.

Other than that, the cure is to remove the lower unit, split the case halves, remove the engine from the casing, remove the powerhead, then replace the water tube. I wish you luck.
