Boat Stalls - Fuel Pump Related

Ok so we have done a decent amount of work on this boat including replacing the alternator, fuel cooler and fuel pump among other things. We fired it up the other day and it runs fine at idle and will continue running, when we go to change the RPMs we hear the fuel pump stop then about 3 seconds later the engine dies. We replace the relay controlling the fuel pump but no change. Its pretty consistent and obviously fuel pump related but we are at a loss for what it could be. What ever is controlling the fuel pump is telling it to stop?

Engine is a 2002 Mercruiser 5.0L Alpha MPI

Just throwing this out there, could it be the oil pressure switch somehow?

Ayuh,.... If it were carbed, ya maybe,....
But,.... I'm pretty sure all of the electronic motors control the fuel pump, with the computer,.....
