I purchased a 96 sea pro 170cc that came with a 70hp Force engine. The owner didn't know the year of the motor. I can't seem to find any ID numbers that aren't removed or faded on it. Is there any way for me to identify the year? The previous owner believes it's a 95 or 96 but I believe this motor was made between 91-95 only.
 
The 70 might have been made in one year 1991?? or lumped them together?
Look under the pack/coils on the block for a foundry stamp.
Round stamp with the year in the middle.
Also under the carb on the intake manifold might be another foundry stamp(maybe???)

The 70 came with one carb and the top cylinder was prone to running lean, one way to help is use a couple more ounces of oil when filling up.
Use GOOD oil, Amzoil is a good one. Pretty expensive but pretty good too.
