Voltage Gauge

What voltage reading (at the OEM gauge) would you expect to see on a good fully charged battery after running a while?
Thanks,
John

A fully charged battery shows about 12.4 volts.-----Right after stopping a running motor you might see 12.8 volts on the battery.

My OEM gauge has been showing 16 volts for years, of course not correct. Lately I've been seeing a more sensible 14 value then becoming 16. I'll have to put my fluke on it.

If the rectifier has not been replaced with a regulated one you might easily see 16 volts. With a regulated rectifier the volts should not rise above 14.4 volts

A good, fully charged and rested battery (i.e. no load or further charging for 12 hours ) should read around 12.7 to 12.8 volts if measured with a high impedance digital volt meter or multimeter. 12.2 volts is about half charged and any thing below 11.7 effectively fully discharged.
