Replacing shifter control box

Can I replace the worn out single lever shifter on my Mercruiser Ford 302 with the old style two lever shifter? I have never liked single lever controls and two levers work better for pulling out water skiers. Jeff
 
Make sure all drivers know to throttle back to idle to shift. Otherwise, no issue.. I'm in your camp. twin handles for sure.
