Hey all, I’m fairly new to working on boats. I have a 1988 Johnson 88 SPL. The previous owner didn’t flush it well after running in brackish water so I’m working on cleaning it out. I’ve replaced the water pump and currently have the thermostat and both heads pulled the clean out any salt scale. Compression is great.
My question is, the plate between the two heads, I believe it’s called the exhaust plate (I apologize I’m not 100% on the correct terms). I want to pull it off. From what I’ve read there are two gaskets that are needed when reassembling.
