Engine was running great and started out from dock and a few minutes after accelerating the unit slipped out of gear. After pulling back throttle to neutral, it would not go back in gear for forward or reverse. Once I removed the boat from the water, I noticed that the lower unit oil was weeping out and was milky. My question is does the oil being compromised cause the gears to slip to neutral? While off water and with the engine off, I shifted both into forward and reverse and each time the propeller would engage and not turn. I turned the motor on momentarily and tried forward but the prop did not turn. Does it sound like an oil seal kit replacement might put me back in business? Thanks for any advice!
