2000 DF40/Evinrude E40

I've got a 2000 Evinrude E40 (zuke df 40). The diagnostic tools for omc for this are $$ through the roof. However the diagnostic for the df 40 is available very reasonable. Does anyone know if there are any differences in ecm or the like that would prevent me from using the suzuki tool on the Rude. Thanks
 
If Suzuki supplied the ECM then I would THINK the Suzuki SDS diagnostic software program would work. If the ECM is Evinrude then I’m GUESSING not. Maybe compare part numbers??? Look at the Suzuki SDS cable and see if it is the same connector on the Evinrude ECM.
