AQ 151 B - Carburetor replacement

I know this is probably a repeat post. Looking at what my options are to replace the carbs for this motor. I know they are the dual carb solex model PAI44. They are completely rotted out from my uncle using bad gas and letting it sit for 3 years. I took it to the local boat shop and it took the guy an hour to figure out the carbs are shot, and spewing fuel. Id like to replace them and see if it gets me up and running but like all of you know they dont make these parts anymore. Is there an aftermarket bolt on option? Thank you in advance.

these guys do rebuilds with or with out the cores, may be of help...never done business with them

Mikes carb parts https://www.carburetor-parts.com/solex-carburetor-parts

I know he does great quality kits and rebuilds don't know if he has cores...

another option is to find somebody who does air cooled VW solex carbs they may have marine bodies or bowls that you could piece one together

These guys do webber conversions for VP applications http://www.redlineweber.com/carb-kits/marine/volvo-penta/ I don't know if they have one for your application

Thank you for the reply. I have actually hit all of those places up. Its been a couple days and i have not recevied a message back from Flying Fish yet. Mike with Mikes carb parts got back to me and said he retired from building out carbs anymore. So hes just selling parts. And i emailed redline weber as well for their conversion kit. so hopefully they can respond with a solution.

Hi, not sure if this is useful to you as I am in the UK. But... I am re-powering my boat and I am removing my AQ171C, so will looking to sell on some of the parts. The AQ171C has twin Solex PAI 44's which is setup on the AQ171C inlet manifold. One of the PAI 44's have the cold start device.
Message me if interested?

The Redline Weber conversion kit works great on my ol Bayliner! I have twin engines (BB140A's) in my 1981 32' Bayliner Explorer. I fought the old Solex P44's on the starboard side for too long! The port side engine still has the original 2bbl Solex carb set up that still runs great. I bought two Redline conversion kits, but so far only used one kit for the starboard side. If you want all of my old Solex carbs and parts I'll give you all of them for free, except the ones that are still operating on my port engine.

Ayuh,..... I can't help with the problem, but a comment,.....

I once bought a pair of rochesters for I-6s from these guys,....

One of 'em, the threads were worn out for the inlet fittin', that holds the filter, that the fuel line screws into,.....

Ended up usin' a top castin' from a core to fix it,.....
