Classic 50 My Shop Manual does not cover timing

I have a 1987 classic fifty SN OB258460.

I have shop manual 90-861-35--5 that shows timing for 4 cyl engines above US serial no. 4576236.

Since the serial nos. are so different I am not sure but ...

It seems my manual does not cover timing for my engine?

If true, any advice on finding timing instructions?

Lastly, to adjust timing, syc and carb, does the propeller actually need to be in the water for resistance, or can it be done with the engine on a hose?

Thanks racerone. I will not touch anything having to do with the timing. (However, I am wondering if I did fool with it several years ago. Might not have noticed the SN limitations for the manual instructions ??!)
