Mercury 80hp outboard engine running Problem

Hi can anyone advise, my mercury engine made in the 80's will start up with choke on but as soon as it is put into neutral it runs for 1-2 minutes then cuts out. I have changed the fuel gasket but still having issues. Engine also cuts out if put into neutral when at sea.
