Looking for some help with removing electric shift wires from the lower extension. Having trouble getting the rubber ribbing thru the hole.

No solenoids on a 1967 40 hp electramatic.-----It takes a bit of effort to remove that cable.-----A bit of penetrating oil might help.-----And using hot water to soften the rubber might help.

Yeah, that's true, no solenoids. Sorry for the slip-up. But we still don't know where he is trying to get it apart---gearcase or exhaust housing.

It was the exhaust housing, it came out with a little effort as mentioned earlier by racerone and some spray lube. unfortunately the insulation on one of the wires is damaged, so new part ordered should have it all put back together by the weekend. Thank you for the guidance.
