Hi

My outboard 1982 Evinrude 70HP (E70ELCNB) outputting is out putting 16v at about 3k RPM.

Checked the forum and it pointed to the regulator rectifier so replaced that and its still doing the same any other ideas?

i did read one that said it can be normal but im not 100% on that.

Thanks

Nick

As originally produced, it came with an unregulated rectifier and 16V was not uncommon. Thousands were built that way with no ill effects (including my own motor). CDI regulated rectifiers are now available if it really bugs you.

As for the electronics, I can't vouch for them, except to say shame on anybody that would make them that can't stand voltages from normal outboards. But who knows.

Thank you for your help yes dug out the data sheets for everything I could find and most are 9-32v so I guess safe will a battery be ok charging at high?

Hi getting the boat ready for the season and picked up a CDI Electronics regulated rectifier 193-3408.

little unsure on the install as it has an extra wire for the tachometer that I didn’t have before so not sure on the placement for it in the terminal block.

any help please
