Seeking clear answer on which complete lower unit assemblies will fit on a 2001 Yamaha 75HP 2-stroke.

Model No. 75TLRZ
SN: 692 L 952519

Appears to be two (or more) options, either a 50-60-70HP option or a 75-80-90HP option, depending on which parts catalogue is used.

6H1-45300-A5-8D (75-80-90HP)
6H3-45300-1A-8D (50-60-70HP)

If it's the larger version (75-80-90HP), are the SEI Marine lower units (75-100 HP, 2-stroke, SE404 model) also compatible?

Thanks in advance!

According to the Yamaha USA website, a 75PLRZ was not offered here in the US.

In what country are you located?

Canada.

Based on the SN, the Yamaha Canada Parts Catalogue indicates this engine is part of the 80A series … which uses the same lower as the 90HP (90A) series. But after querying one shop, I was directed to a 70HP 2002 lower … which seems odd.

Latest part number is 6H1-45300-16-4D. More than likely any earlier dash numbers will also work.

On the Canadian Yamaha Parts Catalogue (similar to the US Version), there is no entry for this engine if searched by Model Name (75TLRZ). However, if searched by Engine Serial Number (Model Code = 692, SN = 952519), this goes to two product codes (030 and 040) for the 80A series.

Following each link to the lower unit schematics, there are two different Part Nos. for Lower Units:

6H1-45300-15-4D (Product Code 030, Remark = LL), and
6H1-45300-A3-4D (Produce Code 040, No Remark)

In the HELP section, Transom LL = 22.5" ... so I'm assuming the two 80A product codes reference one unit with a 22.5" transom (030) and the other references 20" transom (040) ... suggesting the 6H1-45300-A3-4D is the fit for a 75TLRZ (where L = 20" transom) ... and listed under the 80A/040 model.

However, Boats.net lists the 6H1-45300-A3-4D as compatible with 2001 C90TLRZ (and a few year-correct C-series 75HP engines) ... is there a difference between C-series and non-C series lowers? Whereas the 6H1-45300-16-4D is listed as the fit for the non-C series 90TLRZ (and very few 75HP engines).

Having trouble figuring out what the subtle differences (if any) are between all these different lower units.

Subtle differences between lower units are all but unknown outside of Mr. Fujimoto in Japan.

Open the two parts catalogs. Start comparing part number differences. You will find the differences. But it won't tell you what each of those is about.
