I have a 6HP 4-stroke that was clogged. I cleaned out the water passages I could get to, I replaced the water pump and the thermostat. When I run the motor at idle in a pail the pee stream is really strong but the valve cover gets so hot I cannot touch it. I am going to shoot with the temp gun later today. Just need to know what the operating temperature should be. I think the thermostats open at 122. So is 140 a good temp?
