Are those just for steering? The problem I'm having is when I'm by my self the boat just goes straight up in the air and I can't get it to plane out. So if I can get far enough forward I will be able to get it 2 plane out.

ITYWF that they just clamp onto the existing tiller

You will probably need a longer safety lanyard, but note they are designed for use at trolling speeds only
