Maxum 1900sr whale tail vs trim tabs

Just wondering if trim tabs would work or be useful on my 19 ft ski boat has whale tail on it now but the reviews on those don't seem to be good for the outdrive, recently bought the boat with a whale tail on it

What are you hoping to achieve with either? Mercruiser will void your warranty if you install those whale tail things on the drive, so that tells you sumpthin.

A maxum 190 is NOT a Ski boat.
Ski boats have inboards.

Thats your first missconception.

If you need more thrust (hole shot)
Go down in propeller pitch.

If you do this you will over rev at wide open throttle so do NOTvgo full wide open throttle if you go down in pitch.

If you are running a 19 pitch go to a 15 pitch This will greatly improve you thrust.

Also if this works, go to a local marina and discuss getting the thrust with a 4 blade prop.

Whale tales aid in planing quicker, (thrust).

A 190 should not need trm tabs unless the passangers are all over 400lbs then the trim tabs will help level boat when it tilts (lists) due to all the weight

Also note whale tales can cause steering issues at higher speeds. That is why they are not reccomemnded.
