Old gas in a 2003 15hp Johnson outboard motor

I made the mistake of trying to use old gas in my 2003 15hp boat motor. I had just changed the spark plugs, trying to get a motor going after 5 idle years. The motor started and ran for about 30 seconds and would not start again. I then realized the gas is old

Other than getting fresh gas does the motor need special treatment because of 30 seconds use with old gas?

5 years is a long time. Along with the impeller and rebuilding the carb with a kit, I'd also replace the vermitherm , lower gear oil , sparkplugs and fuel pump O-rings.
