1979 mercury float height?

I have a 1979 mercury 50hp 4 cylinder thunderbolt 2 stroke. I need to know the float height on the 2 carbs. Is it parallel with it upside down? Or is there a measurement? Thanks

I have the same engine (1977). The rule of thumb is to set float height so that top of float is parallel to carb body (when carb is inverted). The manual for this engine calls for a 1/4" float height setting. Of note, I set mine slightly higher, around 5/16" because they flooded at the 1/4" setting.
