I'm the proud owner of one of these, a two cylinder motor that seems to be of simple, straightforward design.
The ignition is a "lost spark" system using a double ended coil for both cylinders. This is the first one I've seen on a 2-stroke engine but I sure like the simplicity of it. The CD box seems dead and I'm wondering about substitutions for this. Any suggestions? (I believe the advance is purely mechanical, by rotation of the stator plate.)
I have pieces of a later 3 cylinder DT65 which has a working power tilt-trim setup. Is there any reason I can't mount the '79 motor on this bracket? So far as I've measured so far the dimensions look compatible.
Other things to look out for besides from the obvious like pump impeller? Some say these have weak lower units. Is this so?
Manuals?
Thanks for any guidance!
