Diagnosing Evinrude 75 Problem

I have some experience with boats. I am currently looking to buy a used boat not far from my house in Central NC. However the seller is saying the fuel pump and stator went out while several miles offshore. He told me I only need to replace the stator and the fuel pump. However, I dont have a bunch of knowledge when it comes to Evinrude Outboards. Can anyone on the forum let me know of anything else I should be looking for that may be wrong. I am not sure if anything else could be damaged but also don't really know what I am looking for. Can anyone lend some advice? Motor has less than 100 hours, 75HP Evinrude ETEC 4 Stroke. TIA.

An E-tec is a 2 stroke motor.-----Hard to figure out how a stator and fuel pump are both defective.----Fuel pump diaphragm is about $16.00.----But check and see if stator is available.

Electronic / electrical parts availability can be an issue for newer motors.
