1995 Johnson 70 hp ignition problems

Hi All

I was wonder where to start trouble shooting the ignition system on my outboard. I am having problems starting the motor after it gets hot. I have ruled out fuel and after doing some research I found that both the coils and the power pack can give you some problems once they get hot. I fished all day the other day with no issues but when I went to leave I was idling for a while and the motor just shut off (no sputtering). It never did restart and had to get towed back in. The next day hooked a hose in the driveway and it started right up. I have yet to find direction on a quick way to test the power pack. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A maximum ignition output test should be done.---Set gaps on a test device at 7/16" ------Do it cold and perhaps when motor falters.--------Leave plugs in.-----Crank motor over and observe spark.
