Swapping out vertical/drive shafts from 1 lower to another

Hey guys I'm in a bind here. I bought a new lower unit for my 07 honda 150 ob but they sent me a short shaft (20") and I cant return it. I needed a 25" shaft. Both lower units are identical besides the shaft size per the Honda tech. Is it possible for me at home to swap out the old shaft and use it on the new lower unit ? No Honda dealer within 100 miles has time to do it and the place I had it wanted to order a new correct lower end and install it for over $4k and it would take 3-4 weeks now. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

You need to reshim requiring special tools

Yes---Some dealer do not want to do repairs.------Customers complain too much.-----They have to stand behind the work.------When they sell a new lower unit they make good money and manufacturer comes good on any warranty.
