[FONT=&quot]I have a Johnson 48hp spl outboard, the model number is j48eslenb. I need to change the gear oil in the lower unit and I’m unsure what kind of oil to use. All help is appreciated. Thanks![/FONT]
 
In my opinion those lower units are not robust.----So use the best oil from a BRP ( Evinrude ) dealer.------Remove lowest screw to drain oil.-----Remove vent screw.---Fill oil from bottom till it comes out the vent.-----Do not remove screw that is the pivot pin for shifter.
