Mercury 18XD outboard model / year?

I have a Mercury 18XD outboard I purchased used last year and I'm trying to figure out what year it is so I can get an appropriate user manual. I can't seem to find anything using serial number search engines on various mercury parts websites.

Serial number is A146300

There is no year on the transom plate though. I think its mid-1980s based on similar pictures online. Can anyone help with that?
