I was replacing my water pump I tried to reinstall my lower unit there appears to be a metal right blocking the splines. I suspect it the retainer ring that came off the bottom of the crankshaft. i started to pull the power head since this used in saltwater I assume it's going to take some effort to remove the power head. My other thoughts is can I just remove the drive shaft housing instead.
Is it possible to pull the driveshaft housing instead of the removing the power head to access the lower portion of the crankshaft ? Since this used in saltwater I assume it's going to take some effort to remove the power head.
