Nissan 6hp 4stroke powerhead to driveshaft housing gasket

Hey Yall,
I have a 2004ish Nissan 6hp 4 stroke outboard that I had to change out the lower motor cover as the motor fell over and dented to cover. Anyways, my question is... do I need to use a gasket sealant on the gasket between the powerhead and the driveshaft housing? I'm thinking no as there is no evidence of a sealant used in original assembly.

Thanks,
Hodge

I should add that I've obtained a new gasket from Nissan.

That gasket goes on dry. No sealant needed. Nissan Marine is out of business, and in any rate, never sold direct to consumers. Since it's a rebadged Tohatsu, no doubt you got the gasket from a Tohatsu dealer.
