Mariner 6HP 4T Tickover Problem

Hi Folks

This is my first visit.
I own 4hp Mariner 4T, a 6hp Mariner 4T and a 4hp Mariner 2T. They all perform wonderfully and pleased that I own them.

I am having a problem with the 6hp 4T when idling . The problem is that the tickover speed will increase for no good reason sporadically. This is a real problem with my yacht when entering or leaving my marina berth. I have fully serviced the engine, cleaned everything, changed filters and used fresh fuel.
The idle stop works fine and the throttle cable works fine.

Any ideas to try ?

Clean carburetor again.----Store motor with carburetor EMPTY.-----The very small passageways gum up easily.

And look for a vacuum leak at the carb/ powerhead joint.

Thanks ! Cleaning the carb again has resolved the problem. Just shows how a tiny speck can make a difference.

BTW I can still get ethanol free petrol in the UK. Esso super unleaded. Have used this in recent years and the float bowls stay very clean.
