I think I have a problem……still working on 15HP Chrysler and I went and bought a 20HP one…… learning a lot on the 15 so what the heck. Cost was 40$ cdn.
Things I know:
Great compression and the guy said there was only spark on one cylinder. Could not check the state of the lower end oil since I could not remove the drain plug

In terms of broad strokes, does anyone know what basic components are shared with my 1974 15HP?

Fuel pump?
Impeller?
Prop?

Any advice when working on the 20HP??

Thanks!

I use a small propane torch to remove the stuck drain plugs.
You can't get it hot enough to do any damage.

Spark on one? probably the points??
Remove the flywheel and file/sand the points.

Re: Model 2004 SN 1252 1969 Chrysler 20HP

Points cleaned and have spark on both cylinders. I will attempt to drain oil tomorrow.

Looking at the throttle linkage I seem to be missing something. Can someone have a look at the picture and let me know what I need?
Maybe it's something I can make......

Thanks!

Thanks jerrryjerry! The heat on the drain plugs worked great! I thought I was not going to get them off due to being almost destroyed. I will need to replace both the top and bottom. The gear oil looked ok.

Was able to remove the old impeller as well. Compared it to the 15HP and they seem identical. Fuel Diaphragm seems identical too.

Have a look at the attached picture of the gear housing and the weld around it. I assume this was done to correct a crack or something....anyone see this on a motor before? Is this a legitimate fix or destined to fail?

Any idea on the missing linkage from my previous picture/post?

Thanks and appreciate any help!

Wow good weld job!!! That's a new one on me.
Clean it up and paint it.

The linkage pic: couldn't really tell, maybe a few more from different angles??
The center of the pic is a ball connector, the end of the cable snaps on there,
where the cable comes through ??? More pics.
Franz marine they have access to older parts and diagrams.
iboatsdotcom their Force repair forum, Guy on there from Sweden. Nordin works on older stuff.
Mastertech Marine they might be able to help?

Attached a few more pics with a couple of angles. I also attached a pic I was able to screen shot from a video of the correct linkage.

The throttle control rotates and adjusts the lever up/down connected to throttle plate. The throttle plate/lever seems a little stiff when I move it by hand,

Thanks.
