Hi everyone. I’m new here and although I am an avid reader of the forum I am just now signing up. I have a pair of 671 TI Detroit’s in my 1988 12 meter Trojan. But I am at a loss regarding an issue I’m having. Background…. Engines are roughly 700 hours into an overhaul. About 3 years ago I was bringing the boat down from Maryland to Myrtle Beach. On my way home the starboard blew a turbo and she was blowing oil through the intake. I was able to nurse her into port in Myrtle. I replaced the turbo and gave her a quick test run, everything was well and good. Then due to life the boat sat for 3 years. Last month I started prepping her for the season replacing all fluids and filters. I took her up to River to fuel her up with about 200 gallons of fresh fuel but I ever made it. The port wanted to run run run but the starboard fell flat at 1500 rpm. I remembered that I never cleaned out after the turbo incident and figured the air box was clogged so I took apart the air box and cleaned her up. (Sea foam is a good friend). With that taken care of I had steady 500-600 rpm idle, a clean rev to 2400 rpm, and a smooth deceleration back to idle. When I took her out again I had the same problem, she fell flat at 1500 on the starboard side. She doesn’t smoke or bog down she just simply stops at 1500 no matter how far I push the throttle. Old fuel isn’t the issue as both engines run off the same fuel tank. Water temp runs 180 degrees or less depending on the load and oil pressure is steady at 60psi. Do I have an injector problem or a governor issue? Any help anyone can offer is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
