2004 crusader 6.0l gas engine in carver 360 mariner

assuming you mean that you can get to 'full rpm' in neutral, it doesn't mean much as there is no load on the engine in that condition.

I could be inadequate fuel flow or a problem in the ignition. I'd suggest getting a scan tool (or hiring a mechanic with one) and looking for trouble codes (DTCs) as the first step.

Ayuh,..... Not havin' a scan tool, I check the Contents of the fuel filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline 1st,.....

If that checks out, Then I call a bud, with a scan tool,.....
 
First thing you do with this engine after the fuel filters have been changed is replace the spark plugs making sure they are the OE recommended plugs. (Always the first thing.) Then retest.
