Spark conversion?

Is it possible to convert the stock system of the two coils to a less than $700 system..... i want to get new coils but i havent been able to enjoy this system long enough to use at all..... no spark at all..... the stator has an output but im not getting any spark regardless of the coil.... the trigger was replaced and the original owner gave me other coils but they arent any good. kinda hard to justify 700 dollars for a near 40 year old motor that hasnt run reliably.
507x8c is the model no.
 
A common issue.----Electronics are cheaper / easier to manufacture and assemble in a factory.------But the consumer pays dearly for the spare parts.-----Older motors use cheaper parts and are ideal for those who know / want to learn older systems.
 
The stator can read good and still be bad :(
