Cummins Mercruiser 2.8 Fuel Leak

Hey guys,

I have a problem with a fuel leak on a Cummins Mercruiser 2.8 diesel.

The fuel is apparently coming out of the flange between the starter motor and the flywheel housing. It only leaks when it's running.

I'm kinda confused because no fuel lines are in that area but the fuel is foamy and streams out.

Does anybody have any information where to look for a fuel leak in the back of the block near the starter motor?

Thank you

No fuel located in the flywheel housing....

To find this leak, you can buy tracer dye and add it to the fuel tank. Run the engine until the dye is through the system and look at it with a black light. Easiest way to pinpoint a leak.

Your local auto parts store should have the dye and the light.

So my question is where would fuel be leaking in that area that would be coming out of the starter motor flange?

The fuel supply hose and low pressure pump is in the center of the engine and I can't easily identify where it's coming from.

It's just boggling that fuel is coming from somewhere that there's no fuel around

I am not on your boat so I am giving you the next best way to find a leak.

The dye will pin point the leak.... The black light will show the dye brighter where the leak is.

The fuel is possibly spraying.
