Like to pick some minds. Just traded for this boat. Previous owner said the starter was out. And it was. Ordered new one. New solenoid as well. Installed and turned key over. Nothing. After checking for only 3.9v on solenoid. Removed ground and checked resistance between yellow wire and ground with key turned to crank motor. 552 ohms. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Use booster cables directly to the starter motor .----Report what happens----Salt water ( ? ) motors often have issues with battery cables internally.

Check volts on those wires ....should be 12V

when key switch is turned, I have 3.9 volts on solenoid. Like I said. I took wires loose, checked resistance on circuit. 552 ohms. Severe voltage drop somewhere. Guess where I’m stumped, is there any control limits in that circuit ? Like low oil pressure or similar?

So starter motor is good.-----Issue with NEUTRAL start switch in control box.----Or bad battery ( load test it ) , often a free service. -----Or battery cables.
