Honda 5hp 4strk compression of 65psi…

Thinking this is pretty low. Am I wrong? Model number is:
BADL-1204006. Don’t know year guessing 2006ish.

Does this motor have a compression release feature ?

That seems very low to me although I don't have any specs for the engine.

Are you disabling the fuel and opening the throttle all the way when testing? If the throttle is closed then it can't get enough air.

If it hasn't been running and attempts to start it have been tried several times it could have "washed" the cylinder walls with gas.

Some oil on top of the piston could restore some compression in that case but you have to take care not to hydro lock it doing that. Pull it over slowly a couple of times before installing the gauge or installing the spark plug.
