I recommend running the carb dead empty EVERY time an outboard is shut off.

thanks for the feedback...I agree
I bought this motor this past summer and every time I shut it off I run it out of fuel
I do believe it's the best thing to

I was under the impression that running a fuel pump dry was a bad for the fuel pump, no lubrication, premature wear?

Run it dry. The few seconds of dry running will not harm anything...

Totally agree with the above about running dry, also don’t forget to clean down the whole engine with fresh water, grease, lubricate and protect wherever needed.

And flush through the water system is she’s been used in salt water.
