Evinrude 1972 25201r throttle linkage adjustment

Wow. You are a wealth of information my friend. I will look at it again this weekend. I did notice that there was a gear assembly coming from the tiller handle so now I think I have a better understanding of how it's supposed to work. Can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.

I had a chance to stop by the campground on my way back to Huntsville (we have a camper on Lake Guntersville) to mess with the boat for a few minutes. I was watching how twisting the throttle handle has gears and a vertical shaft that makes the armature move. There was a white spring loaded screw on the back of the tiller handle where the gears mesh and by turning it, the cam got a lot further than before and the cam roller opens the valve on the carb almost wide open. I may get a chance to put it in the water this weekend, supposed to be sunny with high 50s to low 60s
