1983 Johnson 35 J35ECTS

Bought this 1983 Johnson on a 16 ft Lowe "Big John" boat at first of year not running. I rebuilt carb new fuel pump and sparkplugs ran fine all year! Would like to find a little more power thinking about rebuilding powerhead maybe boring to .30 over ,but hate to take apart a good running engine.How do I tell if this needs rebuilding I am new to boats I am a retired auto.tech.Check compresson? What should it be? This boat runs and starts very well!Also is there a way to add a electric tilt-trim to this some of the rivers around here have shallow areas!

Just leave it alone.-----This boring by 0.030" to get more power is a myth from long ago.

Thanks thats what I thought,this thing runs about 30mph! Just want to be ready for next year.Any idea on adding inexpensive tilt-tilt trim?

No need to do much for next year.------Just make sure carburetor is empty.----Make sure there is no water in the gearcase.------CMC ----Aftermarket trim / tilt
