"83 Evinrude E5RHCTA 4.5hp choke rod removal ??

Good evening all experts;
I need to do a carb clean/rebuild. I have no idea how to remove the choke rod out of the connection by the carb. It's all plastic and there's not much play to get it out of that u-shaped clip. Have searched high and low for vids, the choke rod itself seems to be not included in the parts pages here and other sites. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "choke rod" but the control knob is shown, as Racerone says, on the motor cover diagram

You have to remove the retaining clip #11

Thanks greatly. Never even looked at the Cover page. Looks like clip removal and it slides out. Inherited motor from my Dad and it’s never been tuned. Thanks again men:rolleyes:
