I have a Chaparral 19' fish and ski with a mercruiser 4.3L MPI Alpha package. When I went to check on the boat at it's mooring, I noticed the stern was slumped down and discovered that due to a faulty bilge pump, the boat had filled with water due to heavy rains during the past week. The engine was partially submerged, about 1/3 of the way up. I was able to get the bilge pump working and bailed out the water. I checked the oil through the dipstick and everything looked fine. Luckily the boat started and I drove it around for about 20 minutes with no issues. But when I brought the boat back to the mooring, shut it off and then tried to restart it, it cranked over but wouldn't start. Does anybody have any suggestions on what could be the cause of this other than the obvious and what to check next? Thanks in advance.
