glue for throttle handle grip

Good day,

I have a b100. The rubber cover for the throttle spins on the grip pipe. I am talking about part 53165-881-010 .

The manual says adhesive and I see some residue. Question.. What kind.. Anybody have experience with this. Seems a small amount of the proper stuff so it will stick but could also be removed. Thought about a small amount of weatherstrip adhesive.
It appears thats what was used but hard to tell. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what was used originally.

3m brand weather strip adhesive will work but you are correct that it would be hard to remove. It gets hard and brittle over time but that shouldn't be an issue in this application.

There is an adhesive called GOOP that would also work and it stays soft and pliable. It would be easier to loosen up and remove the grip if need be but that could have it fail to hold at some point. I've never gotten around to trying it on one of these throttle grips but I would if it was something I needed to do.

If you decide to try GOOP, I suggest using more of it than you would the weather strip adhesive to get a reliable bond.

Good luck.
